Highlights: In Barcelona, history and traditions go hand in hand with emerging fashion and new trends in cuisine, culture and art. To experience all the nuances and imbibe both faces of Barcelona, Julià Travel proposes an itinerary that begins in the historic centre, visiting places such as Via Laietana, the cathedral and its cloister, the Gothic Quarter and Plaça Sant Jaume. Following this immersion in the Barcelona of traditions, we approach the key to the change of the city. With the hosting of the Olympic Games, Barcelona opened itself up to the sea and became economically and socially invigorated. What better way to immerse ourselves in the era of change than to visit the Olympic Village and the Olympic Port and then climb Montjuïc to visit the Lluís Companys Olympic Stadium, the Palau Sant Jordi and the Calatrava Tower. Finally, we will visit El Poble Espanyol (the Spanish Village), a selection of typical buildings from all over Spain, showing a selection of the handcrafts of our country and providing the opportunity to taste the famous Catalan cava. And what better way to end the visit than with an aerial view of Barcelona from the cable car, which brings us from the mountain to the sea shore in 5 minutes.
Artistic: Gaudi, one of the greatest innovators of his time, has left behind numerous treasures for the discerning tourist to discover in Barcelona. This Artistic Tour of Barcelona starts along Paseo de Gracia to see Gaudi’s famous apartment buildings including Casa Batllo and La Pedrera; then enjoy a 30 minute visit at Gaudi’s bizarre Parc Guell which has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Keep an eye on your watch, it’s easy to get lost in the whimsical design of this bizarre but compelling public park. Continue to the La Sagrada Familia (Holy Family) Cathedral, Gaudi’s unfinished masterpiece which is Barcelona’s most famous landmark, where you will stop for around 30 minutes. You will also visit Barcelona’s the famous Sta María del Mar, the only gothic church in Catalonia completely finished. The tour ends near the Picasso Museum which exhibits works from the blue and pink periods of the world-famous painter. You can choose either coming back to Julia Travel terminal, or remain in the Picasso Museum coming back by yourself (ticket not included). |
