Quinta do Bacelo is a 19th century farm House reconverted recently into a comfortable and welcoming country accommodation. located at Penafiel in the North Portugal , this cosy country home is surround by 4 hectares of vineyards , orchards and beautiful gardens.
The carefully restored main house still preserves its original architecture and the remains, as the granite walls, or the large winepresses where the ´Vinho Verde´ was made in the past.
The owners developed a modern wing, overlooking the vineyards, to provide four spacious and nicely decorate bedrooms. The guests at Quinta do Bacelo can enjoy the beauty of the place and the contrast between the traditional furniture, antiques, and the modern architecture. The grounds of Quinta do Bacelo, offers all comfort and invites to profit from the magnificent view of its balconies, the aromatics gardens, the great swimming pool or the private chapel dedicated to “Santo António”.
With a privileged location, next to the mountains, valleys and rivers such as the beautiful Tâmega River, the Quinta do Bacelo, provides you the most varied activities inside doors and outdoors. Nearby the Farm house, the Baths of S. Vicente, recently renovated has an excellent spa to visit and to enjoy.
Located between the regions Minho and Douro, this magnificent seat, invites its guests to a journey discovering the history and the landscapes through the Romanesque Route of the Sousa Valley, revealing stories and legends dating back to the foundation of Portugal, as well as, the local culture, the traditional cuisine and the wines mainly Vinho Verde. | How to Get There |
From Porto take the A4 (motorway) in the direction of ´Amarane/Vila Real´ and then get off the motorway in the direction of ´Penafiel-Sul/Entre-os-Rios´. After the tolls, follow the EN 106 towards Entre-os-Rios. About 12 km later, turn to the left in the direction of ´Rio de Moinhos´. Continue for about 650 meters and then turn to the left again. You will find the entrance to Quinta do Bacelo about 100 meters after the end of the street.GPS Coordinates:
