Morgadio da Calçada is a magic place to stay in Douro valley. Located in Sabrosa at the historical Provezende Village this great vineyard house is an excellent example of restoration, comfort and sustainable tourism. Surrounding by ancient vineyards, Morgadio da Calçada, is formed by several farm buildings reconverted into a luxury agro-tourism. These complete restored houses, provides to its guests eight bedrooms all en suite and with private terrace. These independent rooms, carefully decorated by the charming owners, combining modernity and delicacy preserving the rural environment charisma.
The main house Casa da Calçada dates back to the 16th century, is an impressive manor with great “enfilade” halls, maintaining the original ceilings, the colours in its interior, furniture and the antiques, that preserves the palatial tradition atmosphere and way of living. The former cellar is also an attractive to be visit by the wine lovers. The farmhouse hold kitchen has been restored and reconverted into a very comfortable living room and a dinner room for guests, enjoyableness. All the windows and doors, are overlooking the vineyards from which the wines Morgadio da Calçada are made. Outside the large trees, the bench and chairs supply the right seat to read and resting.
The unique swimming pool, developed within the ruins of a Port storehouse, is an amazing space for relaxing and profit from the long and hot summer days.
Plus, at this magnificent place the guests can have meals and enjoy the local gastronomy and tasting the wine, as well as the homemade products. To prepare this biologic meals they use the old recipes from Casa da Calçada, freshly picked products from the vegetable-garden, olive oil and port wine from its own vinegars. They provide too guided tours to winery and wine tastings.
For the most adventure guests, Morgadio da Calçada has one of the prime locations to enjoy the magnificent scenery of slopes and vineyards spread over the two valleys, from the rivers Douro and Pinhão. The Douro region, classified as World Heritage, has a greatest concentration of wine producers and cellars for visiting. From here you are invited to discover several footpaths, practice horse riding, boating, or visit many historical sites such as the villages of S. João da Pesqueira, Celeirós and Sabrosa and S. Martinho de Anta, Miguel Torga, designed by Souto Moura Architect.
At Morgadio da Calçada the guests have the opportunity to bring home several goods to remember their stay and sharing with their friends, the guests can buy Morgadio da Calçada wine, homemade jams, beeswax candles and port wine, as well as Morgadio da Calçada soaps, an ancient recipe based in port wine and oil found in this house archives.

How to Get There |
From Porto: Follow the motorway A4/IP4 until “Vila Real” and from there take the road N 322 and continue for 19km until “Sabrosa”. On the entrance of the town, turn right for the road N323 in direction to “Pinhão”. After 6 km turn right in direction to “Provesende” and follow for 1,5km until the village. In Provesende follow the signs to the “Morgadio da Calçada”.GPS Coordinates:
