Monte do Sobral is a magnificent farmhouse reconverted into Agro-tourism 2 decades ago. Placed in the profound Alentejo between the towns of Alcáçovas and Viana do Alentejo, is an excellent and very informal seat for who wants to have a break from the busy cities.
Surrounded by 4 ha of land the Monte do Sobral , was till 1974, a big estate of 2,000 ha with extensive agriculture. This estate is linked to the recent history of Portugal, from here was held the 1st meeting of the military movement which rise to the April 25, 1974.
In the end of 90th the Owner Mr. Marco Fragoso Fernandes restored several agricultural buildings: the main house, the stores houses and the stables ,reconverting theme into a very simple and casual accommodation .The decor is rustic and typical of the region, using traditional materials and decorative elements, without forgetting the comfort of yours days. At Monte do Sobral all accommodation (9 studios for 2 people and 3 apartments for 4 people ) are independent, with its own seating room. The dining room is a shared space with large tables and an excellent cooking, a dream for the lovers of Alentejo dishes.
Monte do Sobral provides a range of sportive activities such as swimming pool (covered and heated), a games room with snooker, football table, tennis table, a children playground and a badminton court. There are also additional activities at the farm grounds and in the region to be discovered: hunting, shooting and archery, horse riding, rambling trips, tours and some aquatic sport in the dam, kayak or canoe are available.
Monte do Sobral, just at 18 miles from Évora (World Heritage city) and Alcacer do Sal, 25 miles from Montemor -o-Novo, 12 miles from Alvito, 23 miles from Portel, and 6 miles from Viana do Alentejo, is a privilege location to discover the authentic Alentejo. |

| How to Get There |
From Lisbon: Follow the A2 in directions to “Sul / Évora / Algarve”. Continue for around 50 km until you find the A2 in direction to Évora / Espanha. Follow the A6 for 40 km and leave on the exit n.º 3 in direction to “Montemor-o-Novo”. In Montemor-o-Novo follow the signs to “Alcáçovas” trough the road R2. Continue for 30km and you will arrive to “Alcáçovas”. There follow the road N257 in direction to “Viana do Alentejo”. After 5 km, turn right following the direction of “Viana do Alentejo”. You will find Monte do Sobral at your right side after 3,4km.GPS coordinates:
