Casa do Pinheiro Grande is a country house located in Bombarral at Columbeira’ village center, only 5 kms from the medieval town of Obidos.
The Casa do Pinheiro Grande, is an harmonious group of buildings ,completely restored and reconverted into rural tourism. The owner António Fontes did a great work to maintain the authenticity of the place and to provide to his guests new infrastructures of leisure, comfort and accessibility.
Next to the bedrooms was built a swimming pool and a large lawn surrounded by rosebushes as well as a children playground, a perfect place for relaxing and take sun. In the top of this garden a small “picadeiro“ is able for those who like to ride horses and to feel the rural atmosphere. In this area of the farm also has a kennel, whoever to a considerable distance from the guests accommodation.
The old cellar of the farm has been carefully converted into a dinner and a sitting room of 180 square meters, where you can socialize, take meals or relax. The natural and healthy breakfast are served every morning in this room too – a selection of hand-kneaded homemade bread, corn bread, orange juice, coffee, milk, tea, chocolate, yogurt, cereal, ham and cheese, butter, jam, honey, among other delicacies of this region of western Portugal.
In the backyard there is a Roman domus, from the 3rd century, currently under study.
With a privileged location this former farmhouse is surrounded by high hills of the Serra do Picoto, where the panorama is breathtaking. Looking around we highlight the narrow paths through the old houses, the Chapel of Santa Ana. From there you can observe the Castro Columbeira, the hills and lowlands. In the front door of Casa do Pinheiro Grande, where fought the Battle of Roliça in defense Peninsular War in Portugal in 1808. You can also visit the various cellars, or go to the Obidos lagoon or marvel at the fantastic Buddha Eden. Do not miss even the cities of Peniche, Nazaré and Bombarral.

| How to Get There |
From Lisbon: Follow the motorway A8 in direction to “Norrte”. Leave the motorway in the exit N.º12 (km 65) in direction to “Bombarral Norte/Carvalhal”. After the toll turn right in direction to “Óbidos”. After 4 km turn left in direction to “Roliça / Columbeira”. Follow the road N8-4 for 2 km until you find the “Casa do Pinheiro Grande” on the right side of the road.GPS Coordinates:
