The welcoming Casa do Alto da Eira is located in Albergaria dos Fusos, in the municipality of Cuba, in Baixo Alentejo surrounded by a rural landscape.
This homely country house was the result of a meticulously restoration made by its owners Artemisa and Luis Varela. Together they have created a charming accommodation where the original features of Alentejo´s traditional houses were maintained, offering plenty of comfort and quality.
This rural home is situated on the highest part of the village ´Albergaria dos Fusos´ at the place where ´Eiras´ (threshing-floors) where used to dry cereals, which also explains the name of the house, ´Alto da Eira´.
The entry through the main door will immediately reveal an inviting interior where details were carefully kept by the owners, preserving the schist and the ceramic paving slabs as well, thus providing a natural ambience well integrated in the surroundings that allows a few days of total relaxation to its guests. An impressive wall surrounding the garden and terrace was built with stones collected in the fields by the owners.
The spacious living room with typical fireplace and wood burning fumace were built to create comfort during the winter inviting its guests on a chat while enjoying a delightful environment. The four comfortable rooms all with private bathrooms combine the typical rusticity to the required comfort of nowadays. The whole interior decoration is dominated by wooden and iron furnishings made by a local craftsman giving to Casa do Alto da Eira its original characteristics.
In the exterior the owners developed other particularities like the biological swimming pool. Generously proportioned, with practically the same size of the house, the pool is a complete ecosystem. There is also a part that, although submerged, serves to separate the area of aquatic plants from the swimming area.
Beyond the pool, we find the olive grove. Walk the trail that will lead you to the Dam of Alvito and be in contact with pure nature.
From Casa do Alto da Eira you can contemplate nature and the countryside in all its splendour. Discover the real Alentejo and get delighted by the rich cuisine of the region. |

| How to Get There |
From Lisbon take the (motorway) A2 in the direction of ´Sul´. Follow the A2 for about 80 km until the exit Nr 8 (km 82) in the direction of Alcácer do Sal. At Alcácer do Sal follow the N5 in the direction of ´Torrão/Alvito´. 32 km after you will reach ´Torrão´ where you must follow the N383 in the direction of ´Alvito´. 17 km later you will reach Vila do Alvito, where you must follow the indications of ´Barragem do Alvito´. Follow a municipal road, along fields and farms, until you reach Albergaria dos Fusos about 8,5 km after. There you will find signs that will guide you to Casa do Alto da Eira.GPS Coordinates:
